Not just the Northern Lights

Very famous for the spectacle of the Northern Lights, Lapland is a truly enchanting region, where you have the opportunity to get to know places rich in stories and enchanting landscapes, immersed in a magical and at times almost surreal atmosphere, like children marveling at faced with something that surprises them for the first time.

Lapland: magical fairy-tale atmospheres

Lapland is a geographical area located in Northern Europe , where the Sami population lives and which includes the northern regions of Norway, Sweden, Finland and the Kola Peninsula, in Russia. Since it is part of the Arctic Circle , in winter this land creates magical, almost fairy-tale atmospheres. Expanses of snow, sleds pulled by huskies, frozen forests, reindeer and the magic of the Northern Lights: you can't help but fall in love with the "living paintings" with which this region delights you.

The phenomenon of the Northern Lights

I remember like it was yesterday the first time I found myself in front of the immense light show that is the Northern Lights. I had just arrived in a characteristic village, completely immersed in nature and away from any light pollution. Although powerful auroras are very likely to be seen at these latitudes, no solar activity was expected that night.

As soon as I entered the room, however, I saw a couple of guys running out of their room and rolling their eyes. "What happen?! Don't tell me that..." I thought to myself! I walked up to the window and couldn't believe it! It was indeed her: the aurora was dancing in the sky!

I quickly grabbed my camera and, after throwing the bag on the floor, I started jumping for joy like a madman! I was so emotional, I wanted to cry! I had been waiting for all this for a long time and I was finally experiencing it! The dream had come true, I was there, with my camera, completely taken by that spectacle, a dance of solar winds on a carpet of stars .

One of those nights I will never forget.

The fairytale landscapes of Lapland

However, Lapland is not just the Northern Lights, it is a land that never ceases to amaze. By day, frozen lakes and strange wooden houses frame what seems like a gigantic painting immersed in nothingness.

One of the main attractions of Lapland are the many parks , open all year round, truly enchanting places, capable of literally making you daydream. For me, walking alone in these expanses of frozen trees and, due to the weight of the snow covering them, which look rather funny, was very exciting, a bit like being a child again.

Remote places rich in history.

I absolutely love the Nordic countries and Lapland is absolutely one of my favorite destinations.
