My heaven on earth
For a photographer like me, Iceland is a real paradise. Breathtaking landscapes, surprising natural phenomena, an infinite number of contrasts and nuances that make this a truly special land.
Volcanic eruptions in Iceland
For people like me who love photography and nature, Iceland is heaven on earth. Every day, Iceland leaves something damned inexplicable inside you. Air, fire, earth and ice, this is the nation where the soul becomes one with the power of nature. The language of this people, so distant and incomprehensible to us, is nothing other than the expression of this bond with a territory that is so rough, strong, hard but also sweet and harmonious as a whole. After all, this is the country of extremes, almost at the Arctic Circle, where the North Sea crashes into imposing mountain ranges and - as if by magic - the contrasts come together in such a sweetly violent way.
During these last few years I have been lucky enough to return several times, the first in 2021 and the second in 2022. I toured the country far and wide and was able to witness two breathtaking volcanic eruptions. Seeing that show was incredible! Lava explosions that followed enormous gusts of very hot wind... and all in such an apparently random way! A magical and surreal atmosphere, where I was able to take some of the photos that left me most breathless.
The wonderful landscapes of Iceland
But Iceland also offers wonderful landscapes. Along the Ring Road, the main highway that crosses the entire island, you pass through black sand deserts, enormous fjords, endless spectacular waterfalls and immense glaciers. Every corner of this land is a unique emotion and the stops along the way will never be enough!
The wonder of typical Icelandic horses
The climate also contributes to making this such a special country. The seasons in Iceland can be very harsh, especially in winter, where it is not at all uncommon to find weather warnings that force everyone to stay indoors. With the exception, however, of the typical Icelandic horses, smaller than the European ones we are used to seeing, similar to ponies but with decidedly superior strength, capable of resisting the harsh winter temperatures.
My second home.
In short, as you may have understood, I love this land madly and I will never tire of returning!
