discover hidden treasure and sleep under a billion stars

Bedouin tents, the charisma and warmth of the inhabitants, Petra, the hidden treasure and a night under a billion stars. My trip to Jordan began almost as a joke, it truly changed my life. Here I discovered a country rich in history and breathtaking landscapes, a world waiting to be discovered, in all its essence.

An adventure started almost for fun

This adventure in Jordan started almost for fun. After watching a film with friends, intrigued by this imposing stone structure carved into the rock, as well as one of the seven wonders of the world, Petra, I began to find out more and more. Shortly afterwards, overcome by an irrepressible desire, I decided to book a last minute flight to go there in person.

The hidden treasure

I started my journey right from Petra... I couldn't resist one more day. So, well equipped with a camera, I rushed to the famous archaeological site and after a short walk, just before arriving, walking between the cracks of a canyon, I began to glimpse the majesty of the hidden treasure. The most iconic place in Jordan, a destination for many tourists from all over the world, Petra rose in all its splendor in front of me.

My camera was pounding, so I decided to start shooting and I did it like a man possessed... I shot from every possible angle! It was impressive live! To think that in ancient times people armed only with chisels could have created all this made me even more speechless! Impressive!

Then, with the first light of the morning, everything came to life, the surrounding landscape was colored a bright orange, which gave a magical touch to the atmosphere and made the environment almost surreal.

The Wadi Rum desert, the “Valley of the Moon”

Do you know the videos shot by Martian probes and transmitted by NASA? Here it is: arriving in the Wadi Rum desert the sensation you have is precisely that of having been catapulted onto Mars, where sand and rock merge in an immense protected area !

Without a doubt, I have my fondest memories here! Walking around with a guide in the most authentic places, where tourists don't usually come, you can immediately perceive the charisma of this land and the people who live there. There are numerous Bedouin tents that offer shelter from the scorching sun and the villagers offer you the inevitable welcome tea. In fact, at sunset it is tradition to stop, prepare a hot tea and wait for the sun to set.

I still remember that feeling of freedom I had, a truly immense happiness!

Sleeping in a hotel with… a billion stars

As the sun went down I got back into the jeep, but this time in the direction of a Bedouin village. I was looking for a place where I could share dinner with local people and, above all, have the chance to sleep under billions of stars!
This experience is what I carry most in my memories, something indescribable! In the middle of the desert (without any kind of light pollution), I looked up at the sky and, as if by magic, I had the sensation of being literally catapulted into space! Billions of stars above me were there shining; the Milky Way was visible to the naked eye! I was very excited, my shining eyes were hypnotized by the beauty of that starry sky and my head began to fantasize!

Very calmly and still very excited I took my tripod, set up my camera and looked for the best position to immortalize that show! That night I struggled a lot to sleep, every now and then a shooting star kept me company, it was the best goodnight I could wish for in the whole world. When I fell asleep, I felt free and happy.

A culture rich in history

In Jordan I found fantastic people and breathtaking landscapes. Having left almost for fun, I returned with the awareness that outside our routine there is a world waiting to be discovered. I hope to be able to photograph it all to be able to tell you about it in all its essence.
